I said in yesterday’s drawing post that I’d been sewing and that it hadn’t gone well. Today I undid yesterday’s work and reworked it.
I use a sort of bullet journal system to try and keep track of home stuff, and I needed a new pen holder (I’m honestly not sure I ever blogged the old one – maybe not) to wrap around my notebook. I started logging something that needs a ruler, and I got a new pen (a wren from Tom’s Studio). The old one was falling apart too.
I’ve been making things for a long time. Everything I’ve ever made I could probably tell you about a bit I’d like to do differently next time, or where I should have redone something. I don’t believe I’ll ever make a perfect thing. I accept that, and often if I don’t point it out nobody else notices. But sometimes you just have to take your medicine and redo it.
In this case I was about 3mm out. The ruler would fit in the pouch, but only with a lot of effort and getting it out again was hard. No good.
This is the remade one. I thought for a minute when it was done I’d actually made the same mistake twice, but this is ok. I need it to be tight, because I think it might stretch a little, so fingers crossed this will be ok.
Let’s see if it lasts as long as the old one!
Update: I found a note from July 2015 about finishing a pen holder, and a picture of it from 2017
