In Bloom
Clarkie is playing golf today, so I took myself to Oxford to see the In Bloom exhibition at the Ashmolean. This is the trip as I sketched it. From left to right: I actually took my neocolor II crayons, thinking I’d get something bright at the exhibition, and ended up drawing something black! I enjoyed…

Edible nasturtiums
It’s a good job I’m not attached to these nasturtiums. I’m not sure there’s going to be much left! I do like making pesto from them, but I have some protected ones for that.

Calamondin citrus tree
I have this in the conservatory and it’s currently smothered in blossom. The smell is amazing. I wish I was better at taking care of it, but I’m still learning. It’s more patient than the lemon tree I tried at least!

All season vest
I ran out of the blue yarn that I bought for this. I found the grey in my stash, and used it in the sleeve ribbing. Then I embroidered the flowers in the same yarn. I thought the blue was a little boring, and the flowers tied in the grey. I’m pleased with the result!

Outdoor work setup
I think it’s probably slightly hotter outside than in today, but I’m not passing up the opportunity to work outside. Looking like a good week for it!

2025 in Numbers
We’re still at the start of 2026, so I believe it’s customary to go and review 2025. I’m going to do it with a series of numbers that I was kind of working towards for the year. Loosely, anyway! Drawing One of the most obvious targets on the blog, I added 300 posts to the…

Habit tracking
I mentioned my sort of bullet journal when I posted about my pen holder. I also use one page every month as a habit tracker. That’s my tracker from September. The graph is my daily step count, and the columns on the left are for: (The washing is curiosity, not a habit as such. I…

Accidental bass
We went to Cricket Week last week, and it was lovely as usual. Not too hot, just a bit of rain, more wind than usual maybe, but the tent coped. Always good to catch up with old friends too. In addition to the cricket (which I avoid these days – who needs the bruises?!), this…

New t-shirt
I ordered the t-shirt that I was working on designs for. I scanned them, chopped some bits out for transparency, and uploaded them for a rapanui personalised long sleeved t-shirt. It arrived today! It was so quick I was worried they hadn’t actually got the designs and were just sending me a blank! They didn’t.…

The Inadequacies of Star Ratings
I’ve started reading books again. Not that I stopped, exactly, but at some point during my PhD I did stop reading for fun and it was surprisingly hard to get going again. And then I struggled to find time to fit it in between my heavy schedule of pointless doom scrolling, so although I didn’t…

Daily challenge 2025
Happy new year! Having wrapped up last year’s challenge in yesterday’s post, today is all about the coming year instead. I’m going to draw again in 2025. I do not feel like I’ve finished exploring it (and who knows, maybe I never will!), and I’m enjoying the process of learning mixed with things I’m proud…
