Playing with plugins

Posted in

I am a software developer by trade, and this year I’ve been changing the way I develop by adding AI into the mix. There’s not a lot of choice, honestly, I can’t keep up without! Claude has become my constant work companion, and whilst it’s quite a change (I’m having to re-evaluate where and how I add value) it does have some very real positives. Knocking up a WordPress plugin probably now takes me less time that searching for one to do the job.

So, I’ve put together a little plugin that will import things from my Flickr account when I tag them with a specific tag, and give them their own post here. This post here is the first one I’ve tried it with. There are a couple of things I’m going to tweak, but hey, it works!

I’m hoping to use it a little like Instagram. I know I could upload the images directly to the site, but uploading them to Flickr gives me a backup and a single place to find them later. No plans to release the plugin right now, needs a smidge more polish before I think about doing that, but a good start.

(I did actually search first, promise. But the existing ones all seemed abandoned! And no, I won’t be using it to write my content. This slop is all mine.)
